The total number of employees in industry in August this year compared to July is down by 0.1 percent, and compared to August last year by two percent, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).
According to the National Classification of Activities (NKD), the number of employees in the manufacturing industry fell by 0.1 percent on a monthly basis, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning also by 0.1 percent, while in mining and quarrying it fell by 0.3 percent.
Within the manufacturing industry, the largest decrease in the number of employees was in furniture production by 4.9 percent, in tobacco product manufacturing by 3.5 percent, and in clothing production by 2.5 percent.
At the same time, the number of employees increased the most in beverage production and in the production of computers and electronic and optical products by 1.9 percent each, and in the production of food products and leather and related products by 0.7 percent each.
On an annual basis, in August compared to the same month last year, the number of employees in mining and quarrying fell by 1.7 percent, in the manufacturing industry by two percent, and in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning by 1.9 percent.
