The Global Citizen Awards ceremony organized by the Atlantic Council, held annually during the United Nations General Assembly week in New York, recognizes global leaders who have made exceptional and distinctive contributions to strengthening transatlantic relations. Each year, the event gathers a high-level international audience, current and former heads of state, United Nations ambassadors, members of the U.S. administration, global business leaders, and world-renowned artists.
Among the leaders of the largest (and strongest) global companies and states was Pavao Vujnovac, owner and former CEO of Energia naturalis grupe.
– It was truly inspiring to be in the presence of such wonderful people who strive for peace in a world that can often be a challenging task. The evening paid fantastic tribute to the selflessness and cooperation and dedication of world leaders, including President Volodymyr Zelensky, Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet L. Yellen.
Victor L.L. Chu, CEO of First Eastern Investment Group and co-founder of the Global Citizen Awards, received a special award for outstanding service for his contribution to the Atlantic Council. All of them strive daily to make the world a better place for all citizens of the world. Congratulations to all the awardees – said Vujnovac.
– To be honest, this award does not belong to me alone – said Ukrainian President Zelensky at the Atlantic Council Global Citizen Awards ceremony in New York. He dedicated the award to Ukrainians in uniform, Ukrainian children killed by Russian forces, doctors and teachers at home, the United States and the European Union, and all countries that help Ukraine in its fight for survival.
Alongside Zelensky and L.L. Chu, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet L. Yellen were also honored.
German Chancellor Scholz emphasized that Russia continues its brutal aggression against the people of Ukraine and against the very foundations of international law. For this reason, Scholz stated, Germany will support Ukraine as long as necessary.
