Studio Moderna: Croatian Company Sandi Češko Goes Bankrupt – End for Top Shop, Dormeo and Delimano

Tetiana Smolko has been appointed as the new sole director of STUDIO MODERNA – TV SALES, replacing Bojan Lah. Smolko will actually serve as a sort of liquidator. The company submitted a proposal for the opening of pre-bankruptcy proceedings at the beginning of July, but withdrew it on September 12, as it did not have the funds to pay overdue salaries and VAT, so the process will continue as bankruptcy.

This is a consequence of the collapse of the entire empire of the well-known entrepreneur Sandi Češko, who has not been able to recover his TV sales business from the pandemic, leading to the opening of bankruptcy in the parent company in Slovenia. Ordering on the company’s website has also been halted, and the operations of the brands Top Shop, Dormeo, and Delimano are coming to an end in this manner.

Creditors in Croatia, according to the company’s records from August, claimed 13.8 million euros. However, the largest creditor is Češko’s Swiss company TOP SHOP INTERNATIONAL, which claims 12.3 million euros. The largest domestic creditor is the Tax Administration with 388 thousand euros.

By the way, at the end of last year, Ana Orehovec left the helm of the company in Croatia after six and a half years, having grown tired of the corporations in which she spent 18 years and decided to start something of her own.

The management of the business in Croatia was briefly taken over by Češko’s trusted associate Duško Kos, who had long managed the business in Slovenia. In February, the director position was taken over by the former sales manager Ivan Vnuk, and in mid-April he was replaced by another manager from the parent company, the director of Slovenian telemarketing Bojan Lah.

Češko hinted to us then that this was not the last personnel change at the head of Croatian Studio Moderna, noting that a long-term solution is being sought. For now, Smolko is the solution until November 16, when a hearing for the examination of claims is scheduled.
