The conference Invest in Novska has started, organized by the City of Novska, the Development Agency of the City of Novska, and Lider, which gathered representatives of the government, associations, industry, and the gaming sector in the entrepreneurial incubator Pismo. The all-day program, co-organized by the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency and Member of the European Parliament Karlo Ressler, proves that Novska – a city with entrepreneurial zones where many have found a suitable environment for their business ventures – alongside a successful wood and metal industry and agricultural production, is truly becoming the heart of the gaming and ICT industry in Croatia.

The city, which believes that without the development of entrepreneurship there is no development of the city, has numerous potentials in entrepreneurial zones and incentives for investors. Namely, the city offers investors and entrepreneurs incentive measures based on the Investment Promotion Act and the improvement of the investment environment, city incentive measures, competitive land prices, communal equipment, exemption from paying fees for the first two years of operation, and support for the sale price of land in accordance with the planned number of employees.

And considering that they have found a ‘niche for the future’, Novska is a city where the number of startups, companies, and crafts is constantly growing.

At the very beginning of the conference, the gathered representatives of the government, the European Parliament, local authorities, and industry were greeted by the mayor of Novska Marija Kušmiš, who once again emphasized that besides the wood and metal industry and agriculture, Novska embarked on new challenges in 2018, following the trends of the digital revolution. Although, as she says, it seemed like madness at the time, today it can be said with certainty that it was a kind of courage.

Today, Novska has more than 80 registered gaming companies, and as the mayor herself said, thanks to this development, a new high school program has been established – technician for the development of gaming games, with whose establishment this city in the Sisak-Moslavina County has also received a student dormitory.

– Employment has increased by 16 percent, unemployment has decreased by just over 50 percent. From a small ‘passing’ town, Novska is now recognized as a city that leads Croatia in the digital revolution – concluded Kušmiš.
