Microsoft this week announced the introduction of the Python programming language into its Excel program to provide advanced users with everything they need in one place.
The feature will initially be available only to a limited number of users and in the desktop version of Excel, although the company stated that this function will be enabled later in the cloud.
‒ You will now be able to perform advanced data analysis in the familiar Excel environment but enhanced with Python. No setup or installation is required, and you will be able to easily input external data into Python within Excel’s workflows ‒ said Stefan Kinnestrand, General Manager at Microsoft.
As reported by TechCrunch, Microsoft has partnered with the data platform Anaconda to bring this feature to life, and to try out this feature, users will need to join the Microsoft 365 Insider program.
It is important to note that there have long been programs that allow Python users to work with Excel files, as well as paid add-ins for Excel like PyXLL that bring Python functionality to Microsoft spreadsheets, but the announced new features are reportedly intended to be simpler simply because they will already be part of the package.
Let us recall that earlier this year, Microsoft raised the price of its Office services by as much as nine percent, which users heavily criticized, and new price increases have also been announced.
