The total number of employed persons in the industry in June of this year compared to May is lower by 0.2 percent, and compared to June last year by 1.3 percent, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).
According to the National Classification of Activities (NKD), the number of employees in the manufacturing industry decreased by 0.2 percent on a monthly basis, in mining and quarrying by 0.1 percent, and in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning by 0.4 percent.
Within the manufacturing industry, the largest decline in the number of employees was recorded in the production of tobacco products, by 11.6 percent, and in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment, by 3.4 percent.
At the same time, the number of employees increased the most in the production of computers and electronic and optical products, by 5.9 percent, and in the production of beverages, by two percent.
On an annual basis, in June compared to the same month last year, the number of employees in mining and quarrying decreased by 1.8 percent, in the manufacturing industry by 1.2 percent, and in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning by 1.3 percent.
Within the manufacturing industry, the largest annual decline in the number of employees was recorded in the production of other transport equipment, by 14.3 percent, and in the production of textiles, by 13.8 percent.
The largest annual increase in the number of employees is registered in the production of motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers, by 16.4 percent, and in the production of electrical equipment, by 13.8 percent.
The number of employees in the industry in the first six months of this year compared to the same period in 2022 decreased by 0.5 percent.
Overall labor productivity in the industry from January to June 2023 compared to the same period in 2022 is lower by 0.3 percent.
