Prime Minister Andrej Plenković stated, after it was announced that Uskok investigators entered the headquarters of HEP, that Croatia is not shaken by any affair and emphasized that the Government’s policy during the energy crisis was to ensure the affordability of energy for citizens and the economy.
– Croatia is not shaken by any affair. Croatia, Europe, and the world have been living for a year and a half due to Putin’s brutal aggression against Ukraine. In this unprecedented energy crisis, the Government’s policy has been to ensure energy security in terms of supply and affordability of energy in terms of prices for our citizens, for our economy, industry, hospitals, nursing homes, kindergartens, schools, municipalities, cities, counties… for everyone – said Plenković.
He emphasized that HEP is an instrument in the implementation of the Government’s policy in dealing with the energy crisis and its unprecedented consequences, stating – if it were not for the Government’s intervention, electricity bills would have been five times higher for everyone in the past year and a half, and the same goes for gas.
– We are waiting for reports from all actors, and when we consolidate them, we will see where and if there have been any problems – said Plenković.
The Prime Minister also rejected opposition accusations and the weekly Nacional that he lied when he said he was not informed about the gas affair.
He stated that Nacional has been keeping him on the front page with negative topics for seven years, and regarding the problem with the gas regulation, he was informed by the Minister of Economy on June 30, and they abolished that regulation at the first subsequent Government session.
