The project worth over eight million euros funded by EU resources has been completed

On June 27, a press conference was held in Saponia to mark the completion of a large and demanding investment project, Increasing Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources in the Production Plant and Energy Renovation of Buildings in Saponia, KK.04.1.1.03.0185, which is extremely significant for the further development of Saponia, as well as the city of Osijek and the county.

The project is worth 8,320,067 EUR and is co-financed by non-repayable funds from the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund, in the amount of 2,647,984 EUR, and the first results in Saponia will be achieved precisely in the year we celebrate ten years of Croatia’s membership in the European Union.

Throughout its long history, Saponia has always strived for technological advancement, aiming to meet consumer demands in maintaining the hygiene of the entire home. However, technological development also indicates an increasing need to reduce negative environmental impacts.

Saponia’s obligation as one of the largest detergent industries in the region is to be an example of improving business operations through reducing negative environmental impacts, which we have achieved through this project. By putting into operation solar panels installed on the facades and roof surfaces of production facilities, we reduce electricity consumption from the distribution network and achieve significant energy savings, a reduction of CO² emissions by 1250 T/year, and the production of 659,000 kWh of green energy annually.

“Through energy renovation, we will improve the working conditions of our employees through a better heating and cooling system, lighting, and technological improvements, and by reducing noise, we also influence a more pleasant life for the residents of Osijek, especially in the Lower Town,” emphasized the Director of Production and Maintenance, Silvija Margeta, B.Sc. Eng.

Finally, the head of the EU project implementation team, Ankica Šerić, B.Sc. Mech. Eng., thanked the contractors, the supervisory service, the team in Saponia, and especially all the workers of Saponia for their great patience during the execution of the works.

The realization of the entire project Increasing Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources in the Production Plant and Energy Renovation of Buildings in Saponia took place during an exceptionally challenging period.
