Jan de Jong Initiated the Process of Introducing Visas for Digital Nomads in BiH

The Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Borjana Krišto met on Tuesday in Sarajevo with the President of the Association of Digital Nomads of the Republic of Croatia and entrepreneur Jan de Jong to discuss the potentials of digital nomadism and the possibility of introducing visas for digital nomads modeled after Croatia.

De Jong acquainted Chairwoman Krišto with the concept of digital nomadism and the potential it can bring to the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina through consumption, extending the tourist season, knowledge and skills transfer, global connectivity, and potential investments. He shared his experiences in Croatia, where this concept has achieved success thanks to constructive cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Croatia.

Chairwoman Krišto assessed that this is an interesting concept in the global, mobile economy that could significantly enrich the domestic labor market and introduce new knowledge and technologies into Bosnia and Herzegovina. She expressed interest in implementing the concept of digital nomadism, emphasizing that the constitutional and political specifics of Bosnia and Herzegovina must be respected in the process of introducing so-called visas for digital nomads to achieve success and benefits for both digital guests and local communities.

Krišto also announced amendments to the Law on Foreigners in BiH aimed at regulating the residence and status of digital nomads in Bosnia and Herzegovina, for which the Ministry of Security of BiH is responsible.
