The logistics company DPD Croatia, operating within the global Geopost group, has begun construction of a new sorting and logistics center named Adriatic Hub, where package shipments for both Croatia and Slovenia will be processed. As announced by Igor Jakovljević, the CEO of DPD for these two countries, this is the largest investment by DPD in infrastructure improvement for a new and the largest distribution center to date, amounting to €23 million, while the value of the technological investment is €10 million.

– With this investment, we will further strengthen the connectivity between Croatia and Slovenia and enhance the quality of service to the satisfaction of senders and end recipients in both countries. The new complex will also be the first sorting center to simultaneously process DPD packages from Croatia and Slovenia. The location where the complex will be built is strategically important for the development and improvement of the package delivery process in both Croatia and Slovenia. The opening of the Adriatic Hub is planned for 2024, and it will cover an area of 37,500 square meters. With the construction of this new modern sorting center, we expect to elevate the quality of our service to the highest possible level, which we will achieve primarily through fast and simple package dispatch and meeting the needs of all our users. DPD will improve the overall delivery experience with these continuous investments, but also meet market demand – emphasized Jakovljević.

DPD Croatia currently operates 18 depots strategically located to cover all areas of Croatia, and Jakovljević announced that from July, the logistics/storage capacity will be further increased by opening a new depot in Dugopolje and expanding the existing central distribution center in Zagreb, in Sesvete.

– The construction of a completely new depot in Dugopolje, which spans 4,904 m², will ensure a completely new dimension of delivery quality in Dalmatia, especially since it is located in an excellent traffic location, in close proximity to the exit from the A1 highway and only about 20 kilometers from the center of Split. This facility will cover the entire Split-Dalmatia County and will also serve as a transit point for packages to Šibenik and southern Croatia, namely the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Additionally, with recent investments in our central distribution center in Zagreb, which is currently being expanded, the operational handling area of the distribution center will increase by an additional 650 square meters, and employee offices will be expanded by an additional 200 to 250 – concluded Jakovljević.
