Technological Innovations for the Benefit of Society and the Environment at the Focus of the Viva Technology Conference

L’Oréal is once again presenting a series of Beauty Tech innovations designed to enable beauty for all at the largest European technology conference and exhibition, Viva Technology in Paris (Viva Tech, June 14 – 17, 2023). The innovations include smart and sustainable beauty novelties and digital services, as well as diagnostic devices that operate based on digital data – for inclusive, personalized, and virtual beauty.

The solutions showcased at L’Oréal’s exhibition space demonstrate the company’s expertise and knowledge in harnessing the power of data, technology, and artificial intelligence to better inform consumers and provide access to beauty products and services tailored to their specific needs.

“This year at VivaTech, we are presenting exceptional Beauty Tech innovations that have a strong positive impact”, said Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of the L’Oréal Group, adding: “By deploying our resources into technologies that democratize access to smarter and more sustainable beauty, we enable everyone to enjoy beauty on their own terms more equitably.”

Inclusive beauty tech solutions, diagnostic tools, personalization, and sustainability

Shu Uemura BROW MAGIC is a lightweight, handheld electronic makeup applicator that allows users to achieve a personalized eyebrow look at home in seconds, based on their natural facial features and eyebrows. Using L’Oréal ModiFace AR technology, Shu Uemura BROW MAGIC scans the user’s face and provides recommendations for microblading, micro-shading, or filling effects.

La Roche-Posay SPOTSCAN is a skin analysis device developed in collaboration with dermatologists and designed for acne-prone and blemished skin. Powered by artificial intelligence, SPOTSCAN analyzes the user’s skin and recommends a personalized care routine.

Giorgio Armani META PROFILERis the first device of its kind that provides a highly accurate diagnosis of clinical signs of skin aging, including UV damage, redness, enlarged pores, lack of hydration, and fine lines. It uses 12 proprietary algorithms and a database of over 100,000 images to provide data-driven insights and more precise diagnoses.

KERASTASE K-SCAN is the first optical reader for hair and scalp that uses three types of light (white, cross-polarized, and UV) to analyze all hair types. Insights into hair condition (including hair density, hair fiber diameter, scalp health, and dandruff) provide the opportunity to select an appropriate combination of products, perfectly tailored to each user’s needs.

In addition to these solutions, L’Oréal Paris COLORSONIC for mess-free at-home hair coloring, Maybelline Beauty App makeover, Lancôme HAPTA, a handheld smart makeup applicator for users with limited hand and arm mobility, and WATER SAVER from the L’Oréal Professionnel line, which has saved over 42 million liters of water to date, will also be presented at VivaTech.

“Today, technology and science allow us not only to offer our consumers services that meet their unmet needs but also to transform ourselves, from research to human resources, to production or retail, in order to design the future of beauty,” said Barbara Lavernos, Deputy CEO responsible for research, innovation, and technology at L’Oréal Group.
