The company Končar-Generators and Motors has signed two contracts with the Austrian utility Verbund, worth over ten million euros for the first phase of realization, which relate to the comprehensive revitalization of two power plants on the German-Austrian border, it was announced on Tuesday from Končar.
Končar-Generators and Motors will produce six new generators for the power plant on the German side of the border as part of the Egglfing-Obernberg project, while in the Braunau-Simbach project, they will revitalize four generators and produce new stators and rotor poles for the Austrian side in the coming years.
Končar explains that the Austrian Verbund, which announced the call for these projects in October last year, selected the company Končar-Generators and Motors, and in May of this year, the stages for both projects were contracted, with a total value exceeding ten million euros.
– The production and delivery of equipment for both projects will proceed in parallel and continuously in the coming years. The delivery of the first generator units to the site is planned for the first quarter of 2024, and the planned production of the remaining generators for the next period until 2030 is worth several tens of millions of euros – the statement said.
The total planned scope of delivery for the Egglfing-Obernberg hydroelectric power plant, located on the German side of the Austrian-German border on the Inn River, includes the production of six completely new generators, the dismantling of old generators, the installation of new ones in the existing power plant, and their commissioning. The project includes increasing the generator’s power from 16 megavolt-amperes (MVA) to 20 MVA, with each weighing over 200 tons.
