Hrvoje Ćosić (Aircash): Technology is changing, and we must be quick and keep up with it

This week, Hrvoje Ćosić shared with students how he started his career path, how he founded the company, and how he manages his role as the CEO of Aircash at the 16th Job Fair organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb.

– Today, it is easier to engage in ICT than it was before. When I started, there were only a few technology companies – Ćosić explained, reminding that today everyone has a computer in their pocket, which was not the case before.

In addition to his journey from FER, through an MBA and banks, Ćosić spoke about the services that this digital wallet offers, including the purchase of e-vignettes, tickets for matches, and the purchase of ferry tickets, which they plan to introduce in other European countries.

– Aircash marks Europe, and we will continue to do so – said the CEO of Aircash, adding that Croatia is a good market where people are interested in technology and are looking for something new, and they embrace innovations well.

– Technology is changing, and we are not asked about it; it is simply the situation. We must be quick and keep up with it – he told the gathered students at this year’s Job Fair.

‘It will be interesting’

Ćosić briefly commented on the current situation with interest rates, as well as the deepening entry of the tech giant Apple into the development of financial technologies. As he stated, the rise in interest rates most harms fintechs engaged in lending because their input interest rates are higher, and then they have to offer higher interest rates, thus losing clients. Klarna is facing problems here, which, as he claims, has ‘fallen quite a bit in terms of the number of employees, value, and so on.’

– The current situation in the world significantly affects fintech and the tech sector in general because there are no longer as many investments, but we will see what happens next – he stated.

His surprise at Apple’s entry into the fintech sector, he says, was minimal given the large user base that this tech company has.

– A lot of users use both their hardware and software; they have the infrastructure for this to be a natural next step for them to sell these services, and they have been doing this for years, in music, movies, entertainment, and even in finance – he explained, emphasizing that it will certainly be interesting to see what happens next, especially due to the stricter rules of the European Union that this tech giant will have to adhere to.

Aircash is just one of 151 companies that found their place at this year’s Job Fair, which has become too large for the premises of FER, thus being held for the first time at the Zagreb Fair, and year after year gathers an exceptionally large number of students interested in technology who have the opportunity to connect with potential employers at the popular job fair.
