Residents of the western part of the city of Zagreb have been without hot water in their households since Friday evening, and as Lider learns from HEP-Toplinarstvo, this situation could last.
– We note that today around 12 PM the supply of technological steam has been restored to all consumers, with priority given to healthcare institutions. HEP production has made all its resources available for repairs, and full normalization of hot water supply to citizens is expected by the middle of next week – explained HEP-Toplinarstvo, asking end customers for patience and understanding.
As they explained in more detail, on Friday at 2:21 PM there was a ‘failure of the main pipeline owned by the City of Zagreb’s Water Supply and Drainage, which runs through the area of the Zagreb Power Plant, resulting in flooding of production facilities, which were immediately shut down for safety reasons.’ The exact cause of the leak will be determined by an investigation, they added from HEP-Toplinarstvo.
– The extent of the damage at the Power Plant is being assessed, but the fact is that such a level of failure would not have occurred if the Zagreb city company Water Supply and Drainage had reacted more quickly to the call. Namely, immediately after the leak occurred, at 2:22 PM, HEP Production requested an urgent intervention from Water Supply and Drainage, but the workers of Water Supply and Drainage only closed the main pipe at 3:30 PM, which is why the fire service pumped water out of the facility until midnight – noted HEP-Toplinarstvo.
