Last year, Japan Tobacco International (JTI) successfully implemented an enhanced mentorship program and further expanded the examination of organizational climate and employee engagement, thereby completing a decade-long investment in human resource development. To obtain the Employer Partner certificate, JTI had to undergo a detailed analysis of its HR system, particularly excelling in the area of attraction and recruitment.
– We particularly commend the mentorship program in which all JTI employees across the entire region can participate. Because they have themselves gone through mentorship programs, JTI employees contribute to the development and improvement of the mentoring process through their own experience, transferring knowledge and expertise to help develop the skills and build the confidence of new employees. In this way, mentors provide guidance, support, and advice to numerous employees. With confirmed quality in HR practices, JTI has also demonstrated continuous development in human resource management. The employee satisfaction survey at JTI has been even more comprehensive since last year, including the measurement of satisfaction with development opportunities. Within JTI, satisfaction with the clarity of business strategy, quality of communication with management, reward systems, and many other aspects at the organizational level is also measured. Interestingly, all managers are educated on various topics in human resource management, which makes them excellent in team leadership. Additionally, managers encourage two-way communication, and employees can suggest business improvements through special programs and initiatives.
