In Zagreb, at the end of September, four top events will be held at the same place and at the same time

The fairs Ambienta, ArhiBau.hr, Art Zagreb, and the Zagreb Design Week festival will all be held for the first time at the same place and at the same time – from September 26 to October 1, 2023, at the Zagreb Fair. The synergistic effect of the joint appearance over 6 days in 7 pavilions and on a total area of 18,000 square meters will allow visitors to learn about all the news in the fields of architecture, construction, furniture and interior design, design, and art at one place and at the same time, with a single ticket.

This major fair event was announced by the Deputy Mayor of the City of Zagreb, Dr. Luka Korlaet, the Chief Conservator of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, Davor Trupković, the Director of the Zagreb Fair, Renata Suša, the President of the Society of Architects of Zagreb, Tihomil Matković, the Director of the Art Zagreb fair, Daniel Tomičić, and the Co-Director of the Zagreb Design Week, Tina Marković.

– “I expect that this unification of thematic fairs and conferences in the creative sector will attract great attention from the interested public, but also contribute to the incubation of new creative ideas and innovations and the establishment of new business collaborations. I would certainly like part of this synergy to spill over into the urban space of the City, in accordance with the guidelines of the New European Bauhaus: more sustainable, more inclusive, more beautiful,” said Deputy Korlaet.

The Chief Conservator of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, Davor Trupković, also spoke at the conference. He emphasized that many historical buildings and churches, such as the Cathedral from which he had just come, are currently being restored in parallel. The system of professional architectural and design competitions will help achieve top quality in the expansion of the Banski dvori as well as in the restoration of the furnishings in the Croatian National Theatre.

The Director of the Zagreb Fair, Renata Suša, emphasized that it is her honor and pleasure that all four events will be held in one place. It is particularly important to emphasize that visitors will be able to view exhibitions in 7 pavilions covering 18,000 m2. This will continue to encourage the growth and development of the domestic industry that Ambienta started back in 1972, which will be recognized at the fair in the form of a retrospective. She invited all exhibitors, as well as visitors, to be part of this significant event.

Ambienta, the fair dedicated to furniture and interior design, will tell its jubilee 50th story this year in a new, more luxurious guise in pavilions 8a and 9. Renowned and recognized furniture manufacturers, designers, entrepreneurs, creatives, and those presenting their brand for the first time will showcase the best design pieces, the most unusual product design ideas, a multitude of innovative solutions, and the latest trends in interior decoration over six fair days.

Conceptually refreshed Ambienta will tell the most beautiful story about interior decoration, trends in exterior decoration, and the redesign of home and office spaces through thematic units this year.

The representative and rich exhibition program is complemented by novelties in hospitality and hotel equipment and the HoReCa program, the Hotel & Gastroteh fair, which thematically and content-wise connects to Ambienta. The Ambienta fair is an ideal platform for showcasing the strength and potential of the domestic industry, along with the presentation of foreign brands, confirming its status as the central business event in the industry, while numerous fair discounts await visitors.

The President of the Society of Architects, Tihomil Matković, expressed satisfaction that ArhiBau.hr, with a joint appearance at the Zagreb Fair in pavilions 10 and 11, will go a step further from the initial goal of the fair and conference to unite architects, designers, and the construction sector towards design and interiors, thus enabling further connection between the general public and the profession.

ArhiBau.hr is one of the largest fairs of building culture and sustainable development in the region, featuring leading manufacturers and suppliers of equipment, materials, and solutions in architecture and construction, along with a supporting conference organized by the Society of Architects of Zagreb. This year’s theme of ArhiBau.hr is “The Space of the Future/The Future of Space.”

The fair will showcase the latest materials and technologies for modern and sustainable construction, maintenance, and renovation of buildings and the spaces around us.

The conference program will gather architects, urban planners, builders, and other experts interested in exploring the future of living spaces and the role that architecture and construction will play in shaping our world. The conference poses the question of how spaces will develop to meet the needs of a dynamic and changing world and what strategies in spatial planning, architecture, and construction can be applied to shape sustainable, functional, and resilient spaces.

ArhiBau.hr is a meeting place for the profession, practice, and suppliers, as well as for all those who provide answers to numerous questions of the present and future of spatial planning, design, and construction in Croatia and the region, aiming to address the complex issue of ensuring accelerated economic recovery and green transition for more sustainable development and greater resilience of society to future crises.

The Co-Director of the Zagreb Design Week, Tina Marković, emphasized that it is the only festival among the three fairs and that she is pleased that it will be held at the Zagreb Fair for the first time after ten years of organization. It will offer content for everyone from the youngest to the elderly, but it will also have significant economic importance.

Zagreb Design Week is coming in its jubilee edition. For ten years now, the largest design event in Croatia has represented all areas of design, from product design and visual communications to fashion design and food design. The central location will be the Zagreb Fair in pavilion 8 and the outdoor space for the first time. On the largest surface area to date, about twenty of the best furniture manufacturers from Croatia and the world will present their novelties. At the same time, dozens of partner locations throughout the city will showcase design with their own programs.

At Zagreb Design Week, designers from Croatia and the world will present numerous exhibitions, among which stands out the exhibition of finalists for the international design award ZGDW Award. This year’s theme “AI & I”, “Artificial Intelligence and Me”, deals with the impact of artificial intelligence on design. Does it threaten the existence of designers or is it a help in their work? What about copyright? Can artificial intelligence become creative? ZGDW will provide answers with the first exhibition of products designed by artificial intelligence, as well as lectures, panels, and workshops where world-renowned experts will discuss the topic. As before, visitors can expect a rich entertainment program.

The Director of the Art Zagreb fair, Daniel Tomičić, stated that the sixth edition of the fair will be presented at the Zagreb Fair for the first time in pavilion 7. A series of exhibitions, practical workshops, and student exhibitions from our academies and one from the world will be held, but he emphasized that the most important thing is that visitors will be able to see a collection of artworks from the Croatian market.

Art Zagreb is a place where you can buy the best works of visual art in one place. It was launched in 2018 and quickly established itself as the central event of the Croatian art market. At about twenty exhibition spaces, the highest quality galleries and artists on the Croatian market are presented. The call for exhibiting at the sixth Art Zagreb will be announced next week.

The common message of all fairs and festivals is an invitation to exhibitors and visitors to be part of the most significant fair event in the country at the end of September at the Zagreb Fair, which will certainly attract both the profession and the general public with its content this year.
