The German technology giant Bosch has announced that it plans to invest over one billion euros to expand its network for the development and production of heat pumps in Europe.
The company will invest around 255 million euros in the construction of a factory in Dobromierz, Poland. Construction work is expected to begin next year, with production starting by 2026. Bosch estimates that by 2027, the factory should create around 500 jobs.
At the same time, the company will modernize existing facilities across Europe. For instance, in Eibelshausen, Germany, it has started producing components this year. In addition to Germany, Bosch is also developing and producing heat pumps in Portugal, Sweden, and other European countries.
Heat pumps extract heat from the air or ground and use it for heating. If sustainably produced electricity is used to power them, their use does not involve carbon dioxide emissions.
According to government plans, 500,000 heat pumps should be installed annually in Germany starting next year.
Bosch produces from the construction technology division Bosch Home Comfort Group, which recently reported that it closed the last year with a record revenue, up 13 percent compared to 2021, amounting to 4.5 billion euros.
The heat pump business in Germany grew by 75 percent last year, compared to a 54 percent growth globally, according to the dpa agency.
