Tomislav Kramarić Takes Over as CEO of Mercator

The Supervisory Board of the Fortenova Group has appointed Tomislav Kramarić as the CEO of Mercator. Kramarić replaces Tomislav Čizmić in this position, who is leaving the company by mutual agreement.

Since December of last year, Kramarić has led Mercator’s retail operations as a member of the Management Board, and now as President of the Management Board, he assumes responsibility for the entire company’s operations and its full transformation into a cost-efficient and profitable component of the Fortenova Group’s regional retail sector. Before joining the Management Board of Mercator, he built a 14-year career at Konzum, where he served as the retail director for five years, and in 2020, he took on responsibility for retail as a member of the Management Board of Konzum.

As stated in Fortenova’s press release, the Supervisory Board assessed that Kramarić is the best choice to manage the overall transformation process of Mercator, considering the results he achieved in leading Konzum’s retail operations, especially during the business consolidation period under extraordinary administration, as well as through the challenges of the pandemic and global crisis.

– It has been two full years since Mercator was transferred to the ownership of the Fortenova Group. In the meantime, we have implemented a series of activities aimed at consolidating and taking 100 percent ownership, as well as further stabilizing the company’s operations. Tomislav Čizmić took over the management of Mercator during the most sensitive period for the company and made a significant contribution to stabilizing operations and leading and concluding the transition process of Mercator into the Fortenova Group, for which we sincerely thank him. We are currently in the phase of unifying all parts of our retail into a compact network, and given the dynamics of the environment, we are constantly seeking models to enhance our regional operations for the benefit of all stakeholders in all markets. An integral part of this includes changes related to the performance of key responsibilities within the system. Therefore, this change is also part of those activities that we are confident will lead to strengthening our market positions and long-term competitiveness in Mercator, and consequently in the entire retail sector,” said Fabris Peruško, a member of the Supervisory Board and CEO of the Fortenova Group regarding the change at the helm of Mercator’s Management Board.
