Forbes magazine recently published a list of the hundred richest people on the planet, whose combined worth is $12.2 trillion, which is half a trillion less than last year. Although they have made less money this year, they still have more than enough for carefree vacation planning and some shopping. Watches remain the most expensive and prestigious items they purchase, and the Chinese Morning Post investigated what pieces the seven richest own (and love).

7. Bill Gates – Tag Heuer Professional 2000 ($1,400)

Although he was the richest man on the planet for many years, Bill Gates is known for his modest choice of watches and was often seen with a Casio that costs no more than $50. At a conference in the Philippines, he wore a Tag Heuer Professional 2000, and when one participant tried to guess its price (missing by about $800), Gates gifted it to him.

6. Jeff Bezos – Ulysse Nardin Dual Time ($12,900)

The founder of Amazon owns a very respectable collection of watches, and for years his favorite has been the Ulysse Nardin Dual Time. The watch, with a 42 mm case made of brushed stainless steel, features a blue and silver combination preferred by Bezos. Ulysse watches are known for their dual time zone function, displaying both local time and the time of your location, making them ideal for world travelers.

5. Carlos Slim – Rolex Daytona 116520 (up to $35,000)

Mexican business mogul Carlos Slim often wears the famous Rolex Daytona watch, which was launched at the beginning of the millennium as a replacement for the legendary Zenith Daytona. The original Rolex Cosmograph Daytona was created in 1963 and became successful in the motorsport world, later being recognized as one of the most famous and respected chronographs in the world.

4. Warren Buffet – Rolex Day Date ($42,000)

The president of Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett, is another fan of the iconic Rolex. Although he has several pieces, he is most often seen with the Rolex Day Date model, known as the “President.” This model has been worn by American leaders from Lyndon B. Johnson and Gerald Ford to Donald Trump. Warren Buffett’s piece is made of 18-karat gold.

3. Larry Ellison – Richard Mille RM005 ($100,000 to $200,000)

Tech tycoon Larry Ellison is a fan of luxury watches, and besides being seen with brands like Rolex or Panerai, he most often wears the most valuable one – the Richard Mille RM005. Launched in 2004, this watch is also the brand’s first automatic model, and Ellison’s piece comes with an 18-karat white gold case, distinctive hands, and a leather strap.

2. Elon Musk – Richard Mille 029 (up to $250,000)

The second richest man in the world, Elon Musk, is, like Ellison, a fan of the Richard Mille brand. Although Tag Heuer created the Carrera Calibre 1887 SpaceX Chronograph in collaboration with his SpaceX, Musk often wears the Richard Mille model 029. Chrono24 estimates that pieces with diamonds can reach prices of up to half a million dollars, while Musk’s model can reach up to $250,000.

1. Bernard Arnault – Tiffany Patek Philippe Nautilus 5740 ($6.5 million)

In addition to being the owner of the LVMH group, he is first on Forbes’ list of the richest and also at the top of the Morning Post’s list of the most expensive watches of the Magnificent Seven. He owns an extremely rare watch created in collaboration between Patek Philippe and Tiffany & Co. The first piece of this collaboration was auctioned in December 2021, achieving an incredible price of $6.5 million.
