Forbes magazine recently published a list of the hundred richest people on the planet, whose combined worth is $12.2 trillion, which is half a trillion less than last year. Although they have made less money this year, they still have more than enough for carefree vacation planning and some shopping. Watches remain the most expensive and prestigious items they purchase, and the Chinese Morning Post investigated what pieces the seven richest own (and love).
7. Bill Gates – Tag Heuer Professional 2000 ($1,400)
Although he was the richest man on the planet for many years, Bill Gates is known for his modest choice of watches and was often seen with a Casio that costs no more than $50. At a conference in the Philippines, he wore a Tag Heuer Professional 2000, and when one participant tried to guess its price (missing by about $800), Gates gifted it to him.
6. Jeff Bezos – Ulysse Nardin Dual Time ($12,900)
The founder of Amazon owns a very respectable collection of watches, and for years his favorite has been the Ulysse Nardin Dual Time. The watch, with a 42 mm case made of brushed stainless steel, features a blue and silver combination preferred by Bezos. Ulysse watches are known for their dual time zone function, displaying both local time and the time of your location, making them ideal for world travelers.
