Prime Minister Andrej Plenković has rejected the possibility of introducing property tax. He emphasized that the purpose of the household register is not to introduce a property tax, as if they wanted to implement it, the HDZ would have mentioned it in their election program. ‘That is not an option. That is some misunderstanding,’ said Plenković in response to Davorko Vidović (Social Democrats) regarding the announced register of apartments, which he linked to the potential introduction of a property tax.
Plenković stressed that the goal is to have a modern, digitized, connected public administration, and the register of families, population, and households is a tool that will provide a realistic picture of ourselves and allow measures to be more precise and fairer than they are now.
To Dalija Orešković (Center), who spoke about parliamentary oversight of the government using Germany as an example, where she was on a study trip, Plenković responded, ‘Safe travels, Gute Reise, Auf Wiedersehen!’.
– What you are saying is a serious disaster, I don’t know where you draw your inspiration from, never a single argument, evidence, you are here on the political scene in a narrow circle of representatives who have resorted to throwing mud and labeling the HDZ and the government with corruption and theft – said Plenković in response to her claims about a corrupt Croatian government, the dominance of one person, and ruling for personal gain.
Plenković also assessed that Orešković is a poor lawyer and that this was demonstrated when she was at the head of the Commission for Deciding on Conflicts of Interest.
