Bauwerk Group Croatia, a member of Bauwerk Group, and E.ON Solar, part of the E.ON Croatia Group, have signed a contract for the construction of a biomass energy plant in Đurđevac, worth 17 million euros, the two companies announced on Monday.
– The value of the agreed work is 17 million euros and is the largest investment by E.ON Croatia contracted under a PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) for seven years after commissioning – the statement said.
The construction project will last just over a year and a half on a turnkey basis, where experts from E.ON will deliver all phases of implementation from design, construction, testing, and commissioning to operation in commercial operation, while the execution of the main works has been contracted with the company Amarc, the two companies emphasize.
Bauwerk Group is a group headquartered in St. Margrethen, Switzerland, and is among the leading manufacturers and suppliers of premium parquet, and among other things, has several production facilities in Europe, including a facility in Đurđevac, where mainly three-layer parquet is produced.
As announced, the energy plant in Đurđevac will, after commissioning, ‘use wood chips at the place of its origin as fuel that will be converted into useful energy’.
– This will significantly contribute to energy savings. (…) Wood chips are a byproduct from the production cycle of parquet manufacturing by Bauwerk Group Croatia, and which is used at the place of origin in the plant, thus eliminating the need for additional energy sources and exposure to highly volatile energy prices in the markets – the two companies emphasize in the statement.
The plant will, as stated, have an installed net electrical power of 1.1 megawatts (MW) and thermal power of just under 6 MW.
The CEO of Bauwerk Group Croatia Igor Benaković stated in the announcement that the company, as an entity of Bauwerk Group, follows the group’s strategy, respecting EU guidelines and moving towards the realization of the ‘Smart Factory’ concept.
