The auction house Christie’s has prepared a real treat for its buyers. In June, an auction of jewelry belonging to Anne Eisenhower, the late interior designer and granddaughter of American President Dwight Eisenhower, will take place, aptly named ‘The Magnificent Jewels of Anne Eisenhower’.
Among the exceptional 30 pieces is a bracelet set with rubies and diamonds by Van Cleef & Arples, which was previously owned by Hollywood star Marlene Dietrich. Dietrich purchased the bracelet called ‘Jarretière’ (garter) in 1937, and in 1950 wore it during the filming of Alfred Hitchcock’s Stage Fright, and the following year at the Academy Awards. In early 1992, the bracelet became part of the exceptional Eisenhower collection, and its value is now estimated between $2.5 and $4.5 million.

– Anne Eisenhower had a keen eye for the finest examples of jewelry art, and her collection tells fascinating stories about collectors – said Marc Porter, President of Christie’s America, in a statement, who also highlighted a 20-carat diamond ring that could fetch between $1.2 and $1.8 million, in addition to Marlene Dietrich’s bracelet.
Great interest from buyers will be attracted by the sapphire and diamond necklace ‘Waterfall’, which is also by Van Cleef & Arples and which Eisenhower often wore at high society gatherings. Its price is estimated between $300,000 and $500,000, while slightly lower amounts could be achieved by Cartier’s Art Deco style diamond bracelet ($150,000 to $250,000) and the iconic Cartier Panthère brooch ($100,000 to $150,000).
