At the end of February this year, 226,947 citizens in Croatia had blocked accounts with a principal debt of 2.4 billion euros, as well as 14,095 business entities whose principal debt amounted to 499.2 million euros, according to data from the Financial Agency (Fina) published on Tuesday.
Due to unpaid payment bases, on February 28, the Register of Payment Order Bases recorded 226,947 consumers, which is 0.3 percent less than in the previous month and 5.3 percent less than a year ago.
The principal of their debt amounted to 2.4 billion euros, which is 0.1 percent less compared to January and 2.5 percent less than in February 2022.
According to Fina’s data, when the principal of 2.4 billion euros is added to the debt from interest amounting to 850.4 million euros, the total debt of citizens with blocked accounts at the end of February amounted to 3.2 billion euros.
Fina emphasized that the largest part of the debt, amounting to 700 million euros (excluding interest), related to consumer debt to banks as creditors, while the total debt to all financial institutions amounted to 800 million euros.
At the end of February, the Register of Payment Order Bases recorded 14,095 business entities, which is 244 business entities or 1.8 percent more compared to January and 1,259 business entities or 8.2 percent less compared to February last year.
