Orqa Develops Special Educational STEM Kit for Students

The Osijek company Orqa has developed a special educational STEM kit that enables students to master new skills and acquire specific knowledge in the fields of electronics, mechanics, radio communication, and physics in a creative and fun way. The company is making a significant contribution to creating the foundations of a sustainable society based on future technologies.

As stated in their press release, in line with the goals of the European Commission’s latest drone strategy – Drone strategy 2.0, numerous future professions will rely on this technology, and creating an environment for training, education, and the development of skills and competencies in complementary technologies becomes the foundation of societal sustainability. The importance of such education in the Croatian educational system has also been recognized by Orqa, which focuses on unmanned aerial vehicle technologies and remote vision, with the capacity to design and produce complex unmanned systems and low-latency remote video solutions.

The Orqa FPV.Edu kit is tailored to the needs of developing digitally mature school systems that need to prepare students for systematic and regular use of modern technologies during their education. The kit consists of four technological blocks: a miniature drone safe for indoor flight, a radio controller for drones, video goggles, and a simulator, through which high entry barriers of FPV (First Person View) drone technology are overcome. Additional skill upgrades and technical enhancements of the system with additional functionalities for a wide range of applications, from public safety, surveillance, agriculture, video production to autonomous movement, are also possible, which will provide students with the best preparation and support for future professions and technologies, explained Dragan Kovačević, project manager of the company.

The training and education program for students through this special STEM kit is conducted in six phases. After a theoretical introduction to the technology and familiarization with the rules of safe flying, the physics of flight and drone control skills are learned through a realistic simulator. This is followed by assembling the mechanical and electronic parts of the drone and the radio and video components, connecting and testing the system, mastering flying skills in a real environment, and organizing and conducting competitions. Due to the faithful and intense experience of flying, FPV is one of the fastest-growing hobbies related to remotely piloted aircraft, enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people worldwide, while we simultaneously witness its undeniable importance and application in future professions.
