Danijela Horvatek Tomić is the new director of AZVO

The Management Board of the Agency for Science and Higher Education selected the new director of the Agency for Science and Higher Education – Associate Professor Dr. Danijela Horvatek Tomić at today’s 78th session.

Horvatek Tomić, who was elected to the position of director for a four-year term, is employed at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Zagreb, where she obtained her master’s degree in 2002 and her doctorate in 2009. She was promoted to the rank of assistant professor in 2013 and to the rank of

associate professor in 2019.

Thanks to her long-term education, training, and engagement, she has gained extensive experience in the field of quality assurance during her professional career, and in 2014 she was appointed head of the Quality Office, and in 2016 she became the chair of the Quality Management Committee of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

From 2018 to 2022, she served as the vice-dean for quality control at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Zagreb.

She has participated in numerous scientific and professional international and national projects, and has furthered her scientific education in Italy, Germany, France, Austria, and Slovenia.

In 2010, she received a scholarship from the program For Women in Science awarded by the Croatian Commission for UNESCO and L’Oréal Adria.
