Prime Minister Andrej Plenković announced on Thursday that the new package of measures to alleviate energy prices will be completed by mid-March and brought in time to take effect at the beginning of April.
– The measures will be adopted on time just as all measures we have implemented in the past three years have been timely, comprehensive, and appropriate to the challenges. It will be completed by mid-March and will be in effect from April 1 – said Plenković in response to journalists’ questions on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting within the IV. meeting of the Partnership for Transatlantic Energy and Climate Cooperation (P-TECCP).
When asked whether those who did not cooperate with the Government would be excluded from the measures or subsidies, the Prime Minister said he knew nothing about it. In response to repeated journalists’ inquiries regarding the writing of Jutarnji list that large retail chains that ignored the Government’s request to provide a list of products based on which the so-called white lists were made could be left without the aid measures that the Government plans to adopt on April 1, the Prime Minister briefly replied: “I know nothing about that.” “I haven’t heard anything about that.” “I have no idea what you are talking about.”
Bonds purchased by all members of the Government
When asked if he had purchased state bonds and in what amount, Plenković said that all members of the Government, including himself, had purchased the bonds, but they agreed not to discuss the amounts and that everyone would declare it in their asset declarations.
– It is important that all members of the Government have shown confidence in the Croatian state, confidence in the state of public finances, confidence in a financial product that we consider very good, because in this way we have enabled citizens to invest in state bonds and receive more favorable interest rates than they would today in relation to the savings currently offered by commercial banks. And secondly, we have ensured that we refinance those bonds that are maturing (…), and the interest will remain in Croatia – said the Prime Minister.
By the way, the subscription of the so-called people’s bonds for citizens was completed yesterday at 8 PM. The so-called people’s bonds are subscribed in two rounds – the first for citizens started on February 22 at 8 AM and lasted until yesterday, March 1 at 8 PM. The second round pertains to institutional investors and will be open for them on March 3 and will last only that day.
