Smart cities: The City of Supetar Plans to Combat Vandalism with Increased Surveillance

In urban areas, whether smaller or larger, vandalism is a continuous problem. City administrations are trying to address this issue with increased surveillance of public spaces, and this year, with the aim of reducing vandalism, the City of Supetar plans to install cameras in public areas.

Namely, the City of Supetar, just like many before it, has decided to keep pace with the times by adopting the Operational Plan for the Development of a Smart City, thus becoming one of the first to develop and implement concepts and technologies related to smart cities in small island communities.

‒ A new program has been introduced for the implementation and maintenance of a system for managing documents, files, and processes, aimed at the centralized storage and archiving of all relevant documents and files, quick and easy distribution of documents using the email system, easy access to all documents and content through a web browser, and numerous other conveniences in daily operations and the digitization of processes within the city administration ‒ stated the City.

As they indicate, this is an integrated software solution that enables digital protocol logging and documentation storage and offers the possibility of digitizing processes related to protocol, certification, and archiving through cataloging, storage, viewing, digital signing, entry, and searching of digital documentation.

‒ The LaFMS system supports an unlimited number of users and documents, and its structure and functionalities are fully compliant with the Regulation on Office Operations. Among the other options already mentioned, one of the more significant is the possibility of digital certification of documents. This functionality is woven throughout the entire application, and its goal is to reduce the circulation of paper documents in offices as much as possible. Work on the new program began in early 2022, and the program will fully come to life this year ‒ they explain from the City.

The City of Supetar has also been using GIS system since 2019, and there are plans to expand it with new modules for space and property management.
