DZS: Average Salary for December 7,878 Kuna

The average monthly net salary paid per employee in legal entities in the Republic of Croatia for December of last year amounted to 7,878 kuna, announced on Monday by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS), whose data shows a real decline in the average net salary both on a monthly and annual basis.

Thus, the average net salary for December compared to the salary for November of last year is nominally lower by 0.5 percent, and real lower by 0.2 percent.

On an annual basis, compared to December 2021, the average net salary was nominally higher by 8.2 percent, but, considering inflation, it is real lower by 4.3 percent.

The highest average monthly net salary paid per employee in legal entities for December 2022 was paid in information service activities, amounting to 12,352 kuna, while the lowest was in clothing manufacturing, 4,951 kuna.

According to DZS data, the median net salary for December 2022 was 6,608 kuna, which means that half of the employees earned less and half earned more than that amount.

The average monthly gross salary per employee in legal entities for December 2022 amounted to 10,748 kuna, which is nominally lower by 0.3 percent, while real it remained at the same level compared to November.

On an annual basis, the average gross salary is nominally higher by 9.3 percent, but real lower by 3.4 percent.

In December 2022, there were an average of 175 paid hours, which is an increase of 0.6 percent compared to November. The highest number of paid hours was in auxiliary service activities in mining (184), while the lowest number of paid hours was in social care activities without accommodation (155).

The average monthly net salary paid per hour for December 2022 was 44.14 kuna, which is nominally lower by 0.7 percent compared to November, and higher by 12.5 percent compared to December 2021.

Real average net salary per hour on a monthly basis is lower by 0.4 percent, and on an annual basis is lower by 0.5 percent.

According to DZS data, for the period from January to December 2022, the average monthly net salary paid per employee in legal entities amounted to 7,653 kuna, which is nominally higher by 7.4 percent compared to the same period in 2021, but real lower by 3.1 percent.

Average gross salaries in the second half of the year nominally increased by 2.5 percent.

DZS also published a statement today on average net and gross salaries by accounting periods, according to which the average monthly net salary paid per employee in legal entities for the second half of 2022 amounted to 7,735 kuna, which is a nominal increase of 2.2 percent compared to the first half, and a real decrease of 4.1 percent.

The average monthly gross salary per employee in legal entities for the second half of 2022 amounted to 10,524 kuna, while in the first half it was 10,271 kuna, indicating that the average monthly gross salary in the second half of 2022 is nominally higher by 2.5 percent, but real lower by 3.8 percent compared to the first half of 2022.
