That he has gotten stuck with his super plans regarding the Twitter platform, Elon Musk confirmed by announcing his resignation as CEO. As soon as he finds a suitable replacement, of course.
Until that happens, he continues to patch up budget holes, and as reported by Variety, he has devised a new fee for the business sector. Companies will apparently pay $1,000 monthly for profile verification to retain their gold checkmark, plus an additional $50 for each ‘subaccount’.
Last December, Musk replaced blue checkmarks with gold ones (for businesses) and introduced the billing system as part of the ‘Twitter Blue for Business’ service. He hopes this will reduce the debt of about $12.5 billion that led to the layoff of as much as 80% of employees.
Last week, he also announced that Twitter would share advertising revenue with creators whose profiles display ads. Individuals who wish to retain verification that their profile is authentic will pay $8 monthly (blue checkmark), or $11 if they are users of Apple’s operating system.
