Incorporating Children’s Rights for Sustainable Business

Incorporating children’s rights into everyday business and management is crucial for improving the sustainable business practices of every company. To encourage businesses to enhance their impact on children, the UNICEF Office for Croatia, in collaboration with the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development and the Croatian Employers’ Association, is organizing the CSR Academy titled ‘Children are Our Most Important Business’ for the sixth consecutive year.

This educational program addresses the impact of business on children, aiming to provide participants with knowledge and practical tools to better understand the various ways in which business can affect children and the steps companies can take to integrate children’s rights into their business processes and strategies, thereby improving their sustainable business practices.

In the area of corporate reporting under the new legislative framework, the CSR Academy offers guidelines on when and how to conduct a thorough analysis of business related to the impact on children’s rights and how to include children’s rights in sustainability reports.

So far, the CSR Academy has been attended by as many as 130 participants from 90 different companies, which indicates that the topic of children’s rights in business is becoming increasingly important in the context of responsible business and corporate sustainability.

– The UNICEF CSR Academy taught me how to apply our professional knowledge in integrating children’s rights into the business world. I was impressed by the realization that this is a comprehensive and demanding topic that we should all continuously engage with and further educate ourselves on. Although most people generally believe they are sufficiently familiar with the topic of children’s rights and their protection, the CSR Academy provides us with a different insight and the understanding that there is always room for improvement. For this reason, I would recommend it to everyone – said Darija Anić, the main coordinator in Human Resources at Privredna banka Zagreb, a participant of the last cycle.

The CSR Academy includes four workshops held on February 14, March 7, March 28, and April 18 at the premises of the Croatian Employers’ Association, Radnička cesta 37a, Zagreb.

The CSR Academy is intended for board members and senior management, heads of corporate communications and public relations, marketing professionals, sustainability experts, and human resources specialists.

Participation in the training is free of charge, and participants who attend all workshops will also receive a certificate of completion of the training program.
