Construction of a factory for medical prosthetic parts and microchips planned in Osijek

In the area of the Osijek Industrial Zone Nemetin, the construction of a factory for the production of medical prosthetic parts, microchips, and motherboards for the automotive industry is planned, which is expected to employ around 1,700 workers.

In the request for an assessment of the need for an environmental impact assessment published on its website by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, it is stated that the investment project is led by the company Log Expert Five registered in Zagreb.

The planned project will cover an area of approximately 170,000 square meters, with the construction of a facility for the production of medical prosthetic parts and microchips, as well as motherboards for the automotive industry. In addition to production, the facility will include the construction of storage, service-technical, office, and other accompanying facilities, the Ministry states.

They explain that the main activities of the planned project relate to the production of technologically very sophisticated IT components, motherboards, chips, and fine mechanical assemblies for further use and installation in the automotive and healthcare industries.

In the part of the facility where the production of components for the healthcare industry takes place, the input raw materials are semi-finished products made of surgical steel and titanium, which are further processed to the level of the final product, which includes plates, screws, and other elements used in orthopedic and other surgical procedures.

Due to a confidentiality agreement, the Osijek city administration could not officially comment on the new investment plans in the Industrial Zone Nemetin, nor on media reports that an American corporation is behind the investment.

Unofficially, it is learned that the interested investor, with whom a construction right agreement in the Nemetin zone has been signed, has been in contact since the beginning of the current Osijek city administration’s term, led by Mayor Ivan Radić, who has met several times with representatives of the investors, and it is expected that he will officially present the project with the investors soon.

It is also learned that the investor inquired about the investment conditions in several industrial-business zones, as well as that, in cooperation with the Osijek city administration, they analyzed the capacities and possibilities of educational institutions in the Osijek area and the labor market in Croatia and neighboring countries.
