The European Commission (EC) approved on Thursday a Croatian program worth 40 million euros to support enterprises that process agricultural products in the context of the Russian war against Ukraine, it was announced by the EC.
The purpose of this support program is to mitigate the impact of exceptionally high energy price increases on enterprises that process agricultural products, which cannot be passed on to end consumers or cannot be managed.
Support will be provided in the form of limited amounts of direct grants to compensate enterprises for the increase in costs of energy sources that are not natural gas and electricity, and direct grants for additional costs incurred due to significant increases in natural gas and electricity prices.
The Commission has determined that the Croatian program is in accordance with the conditions established in The Temporary Framework for Crisis Situations. Specifically, the EC states that regarding limited amounts of support, the support will not exceed 2 million euros per enterprise.
Regarding support for additional costs due to extraordinary increases in natural gas and electricity prices, the total support per enterprise will not exceed 50 percent of eligible costs, up to a maximum of 4 million euros.
These supports will be granted no later than December 31, 2023.
