Professor, your texts will be missed by Lider and its readers
The Lider editorial team was today met with the sad news that our long-time collaborator, prof. dr. sc. Hrvoje Kačer, passed away after a battle with a serious illness. As the head of the Department of Civil Law at the Faculty of Law in Split, he wrote articles for the ‘Advisor’ column twice a month since the first issues of Lider, and he never missed his ‘turn’ even during holidays or vacations, nor during his illness; the last article he wrote was for the issue that came out just before Christmas last year.
During approximately 15 years of collaboration, his texts evolved from initial advice to entrepreneurs on how to deal with specific legal problems into columns in which he precisely dissected the Croatian judiciary and its poor, but sometimes good solutions. He had a journalist’s instinct for a good topic, and his texts were never written in legal jargon; they were always based on examples, often interesting and provocative. He was never late with a text, and he never said that something was impossible to write – he was a collaborator that every editor could only wish for.
Hrvoje lived and worked in his hometown of Split. Born on May 23, 1958, he graduated from the Faculty of Law in Split in 1980, and after passing the judicial exam, he became a professional associate at the Municipal Court in Split. He began working at the Faculty of Law in 1983 as an assistant in the Civil Law course. He was also a member of the Parliamentary Committee for Justice and held several other high positions.
