Exports Increased by 32.1 Percent in Eleven Months, Imports by 48.5 Percent

The value of Croatian commodity exports in the first eleven months of 2022 amounted to 165.8 billion kuna, which is 32.1 percent higher compared to the same period in 2021, while imports increased by 48.5 percent to 287.8 billion kuna, according to preliminary data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).

The foreign trade deficit from January to the end of November last year amounted to 121.97 billion kuna, with import coverage by exports at 57.6 percent.

According to DZS data, goods worth 113.9 billion kuna were exported to EU member states in the first eleven months of last year, which is 33.2 percent more than in the same period in 2021. At the same time, the value of imported goods from EU member states increased by 36.4 percent to 202.3 billion kuna.

Exports to non-EU countries increased by 29.6 percent to 51.9 billion kuna, alongside a strong simultaneous jump in commodity imports from non-EU countries, which rose by 88.1 percent to 85.4 billion kuna.

Expressed in euros, Croatian commodity exports in the first eleven months of 2022 amounted to 22 billion euros, representing an annual growth of 32 percent. Imports increased by 48.4 percent to 38.2 billion euros.

The foreign trade deficit expressed in euros amounted to 16.2 billion euros, with import coverage by exports at 57.6 percent.

In the first eleven months of last year, goods worth 15.1 billion euros were exported to EU member states, which is 33.1 percent more than in the same period in 2021, while the value of imports from these countries increased by 36.2 percent to 26.9 billion euros.

Exports to non-EU countries increased by 29.6 percent to 6.9 billion euros, while the value of imports from non-EU countries surged by 88.1 percent to 11.4 billion euros.

Exports in Ten Months Increased by 33.2 Percent, and Imports by 50.5 Percent

DZS also published other data on commodity exchange for the first ten months of last year, showing that exports expressed in kuna increased by 33.2 percent to 148.8 billion kuna, while imports rose by 50.5 percent to 261.4 billion kuna.

Thus, DZS corrected its initial data, according to which the value of Croatian commodity exports in the first ten months of last year was 149 billion kuna, which is 33.4 percent higher compared to the same period in 2021, while imports increased by 50.4 percent to 261.3 billion kuna.

According to other data, the foreign trade deficit in the first ten months of last year amounted to 112.6 billion kuna, with import coverage by exports at 56.9 percent.

Expressed in euros, exports in the first ten months increased by 33.1 percent to 19.8 billion euros, while imports rose by 50.4 percent to 34.7 billion euros.

The foreign trade deficit amounted to 14.95 billion euros.
