Last year in Croatia, 44,088 new cars sold, 2.6 percent less than in 2021.

Last year in Croatia, 44,088 new passenger vehicles were sold, which is 2.6 percent less than the previous year, while in December alone, sales increased by 8.8 percent year-on-year, to 2,703 cars, according to data from Promocija plus.

These data also show that December was the second worst month last year for new car sales, with only November having lower sales (2,698), while the highest sales were recorded in July (5,390), and only in June were more than five thousand new cars sold (5,116).

According to Promocija plus, the most new vehicles sold in 2022 were by Volkswagen, with 5,288 units, which accounts for 12 percent of total sales.

In second place is Škoda with 4,506 vehicles sold and a share of 10.2 percent, while third is Kia, having sold 3,413 vehicles and holding a market share of 7.7 percent.

Opel ranks fourth with 3,291 new cars sold and a share of 7.4 percent of total sales, while Dacia is fifth with 3,217 vehicles sold and a share of 7.3 percent.

Last year, among other sales, there were also 1,578 new Audis, 1,208 Mercedes, 1,156 BMWs, 247 Porsches, and 213 Teslas, according to statistics from Promocija plus, which also records that Rimac sold two cars in the Croatian market last year.

The best-selling model in 2022 was the Škoda Octavia with 1,957 units sold, followed by the Dacia Duster chosen by 1,523 buyers and the Opel Crossland with sales of 1,284 vehicles.

Only three models had sales exceeding one thousand units last year – Dacia Sandero (1,229), Kia Stonic (1,025), and Volkswagen Taigo (1,024).

Statistics for last year also show that every second new car sold was gasoline-powered – 22,824 units were sold, which accounts for 51.8 percent of total sales.

In second place are hybrids chosen by 9,122 buyers or 20.7 percent, while diesel vehicles are in third place with 8,962 units sold, accounting for 20.3 percent.

New cars powered by gas (LPG) in 2022 totaled 1,806 units sold, or 4.1 percent, while fully electric cars have a share of 3.1 percent with 1,374 units sold.
