Banks have informed users that due to the transition to the euro, their debit and credit cards will be unusable for at least several hours on New Year’s Eve. Therefore, we also asked fintech companies about the status of their cards.
At the most well-known domestic fintech, Aircasha, they state that their Aircash Mastercard prepaid card will operate without interruption and can be used seamlessly during New Year’s Eve. However, given that system adjustments are underway by banks, merchants, and other partners accepting cards as a means of payment for goods and services, temporary payment issues may arise due to the ongoing process of adapting their systems and POS devices.
– Aircash cannot influence the mentioned difficulties, and once the system setup on the partner’s side is completed, payment with the Aircash Mastercard prepaid card will be immediately possible. Online transactions on foreign web shops, as well as card transactions at ATMs and POS devices abroad, will continue to proceed without difficulties throughout the entire system adjustment period to the euro – they state from Aircasha.
They add that there will be no restrictions on the use of Aircash due to the transition to the euro, but there may be temporary limitations on certain services within the Aircash application due to the adjustment of the partner’s or service provider’s systems. – Aircash cannot influence the process of adjusting the partner’s systems, and the same service will be immediately available again in the Aircash application once the adjustment is completed – they say in this fintech company.
