Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Davor Filipović will meet with the management of Petrol tomorrow, after the company announced that it would suspend sales in Croatia on Wednesday from noon to 1 PM in protest against price regulation, as reported by the Ministry of Economy (MINGO).
At a time when oil companies are making record profits due to the war in Ukraine and market speculation, the government is doing everything to protect the standard of living for citizens, the ministry states, reminding that, among other measures, it has limited the margins of oil companies related to gasoline and diesel to 0.65 HRK and reduced excise duties by 0.80 HRK and 0.40 HRK for gasoline and diesel.
– If it weren’t for these price limits, diesel prices would be 1.99 HRK higher, and gasoline would be 1.82 HRK higher than current prices at gas stations. Minister Filipović will hold a meeting with the Management of Petrol tomorrow – the ministry states.
Petrol will close its sales points in Croatia on Wednesday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM in protest against government measures regulating fuel prices, except for gas stations located on highways and in coastal areas, Petrol announced on Tuesday.
Petrol’s sales points in Croatia operate under that brand and the Crodux brand. Petrol estimates that the damage from the regulation of oil derivatives in Croatia for the year 2022 amounts to 45.6 million euros.
Fuel dispensing during the closure of sales points will be enabled for emergency/intervention services. – This measure aims to draw attention to the seriousness of the situation and prevent supply disruptions and possible shortages of oil derivatives in Croatia. Petrol apologizes to all its customers and thanks them for their understanding – states Petrol.
