Stella Litou is the new CEO of RTL HRVATSKA. This position has seen a succession of Marc Puškarić, Branko Čakarmiš, and Tonko Weissmann this year. This change is a result of the acquisition of this media company, which was taken over from the German group RTL by the Dutch CENTRAL EUROPEAN MEDIA ENTERPRISES (CME).
Čakarmiš had held two positions since June – in addition to leading RTL HRVATSKA, he remained at the helm of the largest Slovenian media company PRO PLUS (with the most-watched television programs POP TV and Kanal A), which is also owned by CME. However, this was a temporary solution. After the summer, in October, Čakarmiš was replaced by Tonko Weissmann, who became the executive vice president after the acquisition and has held various important legal and managerial positions at RTL HRVATSKA since 2005.
Yesterday, it was announced in the Court Register that Stella Litou is the new CEO of RTL HRVATSKA, as well as CME ADRIA, which entails responsibility for operations in Slovenia and Croatia. Thus, she became the first woman to head a television company in Croatia, while Weissmann remains on the Board.
Litou has spent her entire career in the media and entertainment sector and has been primarily dedicated to programming and content creation. In recent years, she has held leading positions within ANTENNA GRUPA in her native Greece, where she was the general director of Ant1TV/Mak TV. Prior to that, she worked for four years as the program director of PRO TV in Romania and as the head of the strategy and development department at MTG in Sofia, and she has experience working in both public and private media.
