25 Contracts from the NPOO Worth 1.3 Billion Kuna Delivered

As part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021 – 2026 for the implementation of the water management program, 25 contracts worth over 1.3 billion kuna, have been delivered, which are expected to help certain areas in rural regions obtain drinking water, as well as to prevent significant water loss in the system, reports Hina.

The General Director of Hrvatske vode Zoran Đuroković explained that these contracts from the NPOO are worth 1 billion and 342 million kuna, of which 921.2 million kuna are non-repayable European funds.

Of this, 571 million kuna is intended for 13 water utility companies for the development of water supply and drainage in their areas, while 12 companies received 770 million kuna for disaster risk reduction programs, specifically for flood prevention.

– The goal of these projects is to initiate access to public water supply for 45,000 of our citizens, and for 200,000 residents to gain access to wastewater treatment. The aim is also to ensure safety for 20,000 of our citizens regarding flood defense – emphasized Đuroković.

He also highlighted that new projects will reduce water loss in Croatia’s water supply network, which currently amounts to up to 50 percent at the national level.

Đuroković reported that a total of 99 contracts have been awarded to utility companies so far, along with 25 contracts for the development of flood defense systems, thus totaling 124 contracts worth 3.3 billion kuna.

This, as he emphasized, means a large number of construction sites across Croatia, as well as the security of using funds from the NPOO.

The Prime Minister Andrej Plenković is satisfied with the dynamics in which the NPOO has been developed.

He also pointed out that with the amount of 1.3 billion kuna, or with 25 projects that are extremely important for the improvement of water management, systems will be created that elevate the quality of life of our citizens to the 21st century, and the goal is also to minimize water loss in the system.

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Davor Filipović also emphasized that the projects for public water supply and wastewater drainage will improve access to drinking water for part of the population from rural areas, enabling them to connect to the public water supply and drainage systems.

New investments, the minister stated, will further contribute to solving one of the biggest problems in public water supply, which is water loss.

Filipović also reported that a call for public water supply and drainage systems in agglomerations has been announced, within which 2.4 billion kuna is available, as well as a call for financing the implementation of investment in measuring devices at water intakes worth 64 million kuna.
