The Prepaid Card We All Need

Although debit and credit cards, as well as cash, remain the most common payment methods, the time of the coronavirus crisis has emphasized new financial and technological solutions. Digital wallets that are not tied to a bank account, sending and receiving money via applications, or the ability to purchase various services via mobile phones are appealing to younger generations, but older individuals have also slowly recognized the advantages of such payments and money transfers in recent years.

Limiting Spending

All of this is ensured by prepaid cards as a financial solution that allows easy management of cash flow and monitoring of account status. Namely, prepaid cards reduce the possibility of overspending since they limit it more simply and in real-time. They are also safer to carry than cash, which is particularly convenient when traveling, and the quick and easy management of such cards (e.g., via a mobile application) protects in case of loss or theft of the card. They also enable payments for users who do not have bank accounts, and the card is necessary for everyday payments, travel, or outings, such as for graduates or students. Prepaid cards ensure anonymity and protection of personal data since the user’s name is not listed on them, and there are also those that are not tied to a bank account.

One such prepaid card has been offered by the first Croatian digital wallet, Aircash, which has provided the Aircash Mastercard prepaid card to the domestic market to simplify online shopping, payments in stores, and cash withdrawals at ATMs worldwide.

With over 500,000 users, Aircash has offered an innovation that allows you to transfer your cash from Croatia or abroad, or it offers the possibility of loading the Aircash wallet with cash, and the money is immediately available on the Aircash prepaid card.

Numerous Benefits

The Aircash prepaid card can be easily obtained in Croatia at the nearest Tisak, iNovine kiosks, in Konzum, or at the gas stations of Ina and Tifon, where it can be purchased for 30 kuna (3.98 euros). After purchasing the card, it is necessary to install the free Aircash application (digital wallet), and cash or a certain amount from your bank or credit card can be deposited into it immediately, or you can receive money sent by a friend via their Aircash application.

Relatives and friends living outside Croatia, e.g., in Austria, Germany, or Slovenia, can send money from abroad at any time of the day with a fee-free deposit to their Aircash wallet and by sending money to the user’s wallet. The money is visible in the Aircash wallet for a few moments and immediately available on the Aircash card.

Possible Use of Multiple Cards

An exceptional convenience is that expenses can be monitored while traveling. Using the application, daily or monthly spending and card status can be tracked and limited, allowing for the determination of maximum withdrawal amounts at ATMs, and in emergencies, it is possible to increase the amount available. In case of loss or theft, the Aircash card can be locked via the application so that no one can access the money in the user’s mobile wallet. A new Aircash card must then be purchased.

It is possible to use up to five cards linked to the user’s Aircash wallet. Each can be used for something different, for example, one for online payments, another for payments in stores, and a third for cash withdrawals. Daily and monthly limits are set for each card separately, and obtaining the Aircash prepaid card does not require filling out forms at banks, waiting days for the card, or paying maintenance fees for these cards.

* It should also be emphasized that every month Mastercard rewards its users with numerous discounts, which can also be utilized through the Aircash Mastercard prepaid card.
