This year, record amounts of shipments are arriving at the new sorting center of Croatian Post in Velika Gorica during the holiday gift season. By the end of November, double the usual amounts were received. A large number of shipments is the result of numerous promotions and discounts that e-commerce businesses offered to their customers during Black Friday week, which traditionally takes place on the last Friday of November.
The processing of a large number of shipments is made possible by modern postal technology with an automatic sorting system that can sort up to 15,000 shipments weighing from 100 grams to 30 kilograms in one hour. After passing through the sorting process, shipments are dispatched for delivery to users’ addresses across Croatia on the same day, with 2,500 postal workers handling the deliveries.
Packages ordered from numerous Croatian and international e-commerce sites are delivered by Paket24, a fast parcel delivery service that evenly covers the entire territory of the Republic of Croatia and guarantees delivery of shipments the next day to over 200 locations. Since the beginning of September, Croatian Post has ensured the fastest delivery for the Dubrovnik-Neretva County as well. This means that shipments from the largest global and domestic e-commerce sites arrive in cities like Dubrovnik, Cavtat, and Ploče just as quickly as, for example, in Zagreb, Split, Osijek, or Rijeka.
