Prominent Croatian economic expert Guste Santini has passed away at the age of 73. The news of the death of this great scientist, who published more than 20 books, both independently and in collaboration with others, was confirmed to us by his family for the portal Dnevno.hr, for which he wrote a large number of economic analyses, reports Zagrebinfo.
Guste Santini was born on May 22, 1949, in Turnj (municipality of Sv. Filip Jakov). After finishing high school, he enrolled in the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb in 1968, where he graduated in May 1972. Upon joining the Institute of Public Finance, he took the position of editor-in-chief of the journal ‘Financial Practice’ (1986-1991), which he transformed into a scientific journal by changing its editorial policy.
From 1972 to 1976, he worked at the National Bank of Croatia, and at the Privredna Banka Zagreb from 1976 to 1978, and from 1978 to 1986, he served as the general director of the Tobacco Factory Zagreb. During the period 1980-84, he was a member of the Federal Council for Prices and the president of the Committee for Agriculture, Processing, and Tobacco Industry. Since 1993, he worked as the general director of Insurance – Zagreb, and from April 1993, he held the position of president of the management board of ‘Investment and Commercial Savings Bank’ d.d., Zagreb. From 2000 to 2006, he worked at the College of Business and Management ‘Baltazar Adam Krčelić’. He obtained his doctorate in 1997 at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb.
