In memory of their prematurely deceased journalist Hrvoje Mateljić, Lider has been awarding prizes for the best journalistic works on the economy for the 13th consecutive year. The director of Lider Bojana Božanić Ivanović emphasized in her opening speech during the award ceremony that in these challenging times, it is more important than ever to have media that publish important and relevant content. Quality analyses and proposals are crucial for media pluralism, and the mission of this award is to contribute to economic journalism in Croatia.
The gathering was also addressed by Andrei Poliakov, director of JT International Zagreb, a long-time sponsor of the Hrvoje Mateljić Award, highlighting the importance of quality business journalism for the successful operation of entrepreneurs, especially in these difficult times.
After the opening remarks, the deputy editor-in-chief of Lider, Vanja Figenwald, presented the results of the research ‘How Economic Journalists See the Next Year?’, and a round table was held on the changes expected in the economy in 2023.
The recipient of the award for the best works on the economy published in print and digital media in 2022 is Manuela Tašler, editor and commentator at Lider, who expressed her gratitude to the jury. The award was presented to her by Iso Masato, the ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Croatia.
