With a New Acquisition, Futura Partners Enters the Healthcare Sector

The recently established company Futura Partners, which conducted its first acquisition this summer, has now acquired the company of one of its co-owners – Bagatin Medical Group. Bagatin Medical Group was previously owned by Ognjen Bagatin and Bojan Pintarić, who have shared executive roles since the company was founded in 2019.

Bagatin became a co-owner of Futura Partners this September – three months after its establishment. In addition to Bagatin, Futura Partners is backed by many well-known names – Saša Cvetojević, Luka Abrus Fijačko, Berislav Horvat, Josip Konjevod, the company Fidestum of Filip Jelić, Ivan Gabrić, and Zlatko Knezović.

– Ognjen Bagatin has achieved a number of excellent results in healthcare. We want to combine his knowledge and experience with the capital, knowledge, and experience of our partners to develop the acquired company as best as possible for the benefit of its owners, employees, and users of its services. We want to have a leader at the helm of each acquired company who understands the economy well, as well as the specifics of the industry to which that company belongs. That is why Ognjen is an excellent solution for management in healthcare – Filip Jelić, a partner at Futura Partners, responded to our question about why Futura Partners acquired the company of one of its co-owners.

The company generated revenues of 325,400 kuna in 2020, while last year revenues increased to 368,600 kuna. It also includes Poliklinika Sinteza, Poliklinika Fides, and the online store for dermocosmetics Bagatin Beauty, and although Bagatin has fully sold the company Bagatin Medical Group, he continues to lead the polyclinics and online store as a partner and director at Futura Partners.

– I am glad that I will be able to continue leading this great team of doctors and other healthcare staff as well as employees in supporting departments. The acquisition is a kind of confirmation of quality and an incentive to utilize the potentials we have. It will enable us to further develop, especially in enhancing technology, educating employees, and raising the quality of services for our patients and clients. Sinteza has a wealth of experience gained over 15 years of operation, and in addition to the branches of medicine in which we are already well known, we are now further developing gynecology, dermatology, and cosmetology. Fides in Split is one of the few neuro-robotic polyclinics in the region. It gives us the best insight into the future of medicine. The quality of treatment and rehabilitation will be influenced by the synergy of the expertise of doctors and highly sophisticated technology – Bagatin explained.

Entering the Healthcare Sector

– We see opportunities in the growing demand for private healthcare services in the domestic market and the development of Croatia as a destination for health tourism. This acquisition is our starting point for developing a new medical group in the region – Jelić emphasized, adding that in addition to the potential that private healthcare has, it is attractive to investors due to its resilience. Despite the challenges posed by the new economic crisis, the need for healthcare services remains constant.

Futura Partners also acquired the luxury interior design company Sinago this summer. This acquisition was particularly significant as it was the first investment of the company, which was established in June this year and seems to have just begun its acquisitions.

As Saša Cvetojević highlighted in a recent interview for Lider, Futura Partners was established with the aim of investing in various companies and industries, so it is no surprise that with this new acquisition, the company has entered the healthcare sector. Cvetojević also noted that the acquisition of Sinago was just the first in a series.

– Next in line is entering the private healthcare sector, i.e., medical services. We see great potential in this area, and some of the partners in it have significant experience. The company will grow organically and through further acquisitions – Cvetojević emphasized in an interview two months ago.

With the completion of the second acquisition, as stated by Futura Partners, the company is currently focused on managing the acquired companies, i.e., increasing their revenues. It continues to observe small and medium-sized companies in Croatia, especially those in manufacturing and private healthcare that require a transfer of ownership and management. This transfer is necessary for companies established in the 1990s, as well as for younger ones whose owners are aware that they cannot elevate the company’s operations to a higher level independently.

– Our focus is on the small and medium-sized enterprise segment where we, as a group of investors, can develop and build businesses with knowledge, experience, and capital. At Futura Partners, we have gathered partners from various industries to better understand different areas. All the companies we are interested in have in common that they have great growth potential with our contribution. We believe we will soon be able to demonstrate this with the examples of Sinago and Poliklinika Sinteza. At the same time, we expect the entry of some more partners into our company Futura Partners. We believe that our joint results will positively reflect on the broader community – Jelić said for Lider.
