Smart Eco Parking: less congestion, more efficient parking system and more green infrastructure

Companies Penta (Pula), Sensum (Rijeka) and 3 E projekti (Zagreb) have come together to implement the Smart Eco Parking project, which brings intelligent transport solutions for urban traffic and parking, while also promoting the development of green infrastructure and reducing the impact of climate change in urban areas.

The project represents a transition from previous urban mobility through the innovative service ‘Smart Eco Parking’ and the innovative product ‘smart parking’, which influence the creation of smart solutions to improve traffic and mobility in urban environments, cause less congestion, and enable more efficient use of transport and green infrastructure, resulting in a reduction of harmful gas emissions and environmental pollution.

Smart Eco Parking will positively impact climate change, increase mobility, reduce congestion, enable more efficient use of transport infrastructure and the development of green infrastructure, as well as the introduction of NBS solutions. The project is aligned with EU regulations regarding traffic regulation and the Smart Specialization Strategy of the Republic of Croatia and the Program for the Development of Green Infrastructure in Urban Areas for the period from 2021 to 2030.

Specific innovative solutions

Behind the project are three SMEs, each offering and complementing this innovative service and product in their respective areas of operation; Penta d.o.o. provides services in the field of managing intelligent transport solutions and systems as well as parking management with an emphasis on solutions in urban areas, Sensum d.o.o. provides services in the field of climate change with an emphasis on the mobility and urban transport sector, while 3 E Projekti d.o.o. provides services in the fields of spatial and landscape planning, architecture, and landscape architecture with an emphasis on urban green infrastructure.

The project will be implemented with the support of the integrator ECORYS HRVATSKA d.o.o. from Zagreb.

Establishing a supplier relationship with the integrator allows for greater added value and greater market representation by not only offering analyses and solution proposals but also concrete innovative technological solutions and a new, multidisciplinary methodology.

Unique solution in the international market

By analyzing existing transport solutions on the market, the companies have encountered, in addition to traffic growth, environmental pollution, the emergence of negative aspects of climate change, and the lack of systematic parking management through intelligent solutions, the problem of sustainability in urban areas due to inadequate use of smart green infrastructure.

Currently, there are individual solutions for transport sustainability and parking regulation on the international market, but none have compatible functionalities that would fully address the mentioned shortcomings, protect urban areas and the environment, increase transport sustainability, facilitate the operations of parking system operators, and satisfy drivers as end users.

For the public and private sector

In addition to the Croatian market, the Smart Eco Parking solution will also be available in the regional market consisting of neighboring countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia) and the international European market.

Smart Eco Parking is intended for local and regional government units, municipal and commercial companies, shopping centers, business zones, hotels and resort hotels, and marinas – in other words, public institutions that manage parking spaces or private entities with large parking areas.

The total value of the project is 5,229,742.70 HRK, of which 2,473,328.25 HRK are non-refundable funds awarded through the Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020 from the European Regional Development Fund, based on the call for project proposals ‘Integrator’.
