The Little Lighthouse is a project that has been rewarding the best workers in Croatia for the fifth year, promoting more optimism and greater awareness of valuable employees with the help of numerous donors, support from various organizations, and volunteers.
On November 11th, an award ceremony was held at City Plaza in Zagreb with an online broadcast as part of the Little Lighthouse project, inspired by the work and legacy of the late Dr. Dražen Glavaš, aimed at discovering beacons whose personalities inspire and instill hope for a better Croatia.
By the end of September, nearly 800 applications had been received from all over Croatia, and the stories of 10 “special ones” touched and won the hearts of 22 commission members. As in previous years, the public had the opportunity to vote for their favorite, resulting in over 12,000 votes.
The title of the best worker went to Đakovo, to Professor Nataša Šantić from the Braća Radić Economic School.
“It is a great honor for me to be part of a project that emphasizes the dignity of human work, honesty, and the great things that people do every day. I work in a high school with young people and often emphasize to them that it is not only knowledge that matters, but also skills and a human approach to work so that they can be honest and valuable workers today and tomorrow. This award has given me new and even stronger motivation to continue working diligently,” said the winner of the Little Lighthouse, Nataša Šantić, after receiving the award.
Second place and 10,000 kuna went to Marin Ivančević, a medical technician in an ambulance from Split, while Aunt Ana Madžar from the Ljubljanica Elementary School in Zagreb won third place and 5,000 kuna. All other finalists who made up the Top 10 this year and who make our society a better place every day also deserve congratulations.
