Investor from the United Arab Emirates, Saif Alketbi, confirmed in an interview with Jutarnji list that he has acquired 43 percent of the shares of Fortenova Group Netherlands from Sberbank in Moscow, following all EU laws and ahead of the deadline.
In a conversation with Jutarnji list journalist Gojko Drljača, Alketbi assures that he will comply with legal obligations and norms to complete all steps in this acquisition.
– I prefer not to comment on nonsensical speculation, but honestly, I was surprised by the hostility shown by management. I would have preferred management to be more constructive. We have a lot of common work in the best interest of the company considering the current conditions in the financial markets – he stated.
When asked how much he paid for Fortenova, Alketbi said it is a private investment that will remain confidential.
– I believe that Fortenova is an attractive asset and offers huge opportunities for growth and capital preservation, but with the right investments and strategy. This should not be a surprise to anyone following global investment trends in this sector. The issues of Russian involvement in the capital structure are well known. We have just resolved this issue for the company, which is another reason why I am surprised by the negative reaction from some in Croatia – he said.
