Russia will continue to participate in the grain export agreement from which it withdrew over the weekend, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday.
Russia suspended its participation in the agreement over the weekend and stated that it could not guarantee the safety of civilian vessels crossing the Black Sea due to attacks on its fleet there.
– The Russian Federation believes that the currently received guarantees seem sufficient and continues to implement the agreement – the Ministry of Defense stated.
Russia announced on Saturday that it was withdrawing from the grain export agreement after, it claims, a major drone attack on vessels in the port of Sevastopol on the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014.
Russia will summon the British ambassador in Moscow for a discussion regarding, as it states, the involvement of British experts in the Ukrainian drone attack on its Black Sea fleet in Crimea, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the attack was carried out under the guidance of British naval experts. Britain has denied involvement.
– These actions were carried out under the guidance of British experts – said Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to reporters on Wednesday.
– Therefore, the British ambassador will soon be summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs – she added.
