Elon Musk will finalize the contract with Twitter within three days

The agreement to purchase Twitter by Elon Musk may actually be happening this time. According to Bloomberg, Musk stated two days ago during a video conference call that his acquisition agreement for Twitter will be finalized this Friday, October 28.

Musk’s conference call was with banking institutions that are providing funding for the acquisition. Musk is reportedly opening a credit line of $13 billion for them.

The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX renewed his offer to acquire Twitter on October 4 for his originally agreed price of $44 billion. The new agreement, which was set under the same conditions as the previous one, came after months of turmoil between both parties.

Musk had previously accused Twitter of lying about the number of its users, urging the company to prove that less than five percent of user accounts are fake, and ultimately withdrew from the deal. In return, Twitter sued Musk for breach of contract, seeking a billion dollars in damages.

Musk reportedly plans to dramatically reduce Twitter’s workforce, from about 7,000 employees to 2,500, which would be a reduction of 75 percent. The billionaire stated in Tesla’s latest earnings call that he was ‘clearly overpaying’ for the social media giant, but that the long-term potential of the company is an order of magnitude greater than its current form.

Although Musk has yet to comment on the latest news, he reiterated his intention for the social media platform to take a different approach to content moderation and censorship in a tweet yesterday.

– Twitter should be as broadly inclusive as possible, serving as a fair forum for lively, even if occasionally heated, debate between very different beliefs – Musk wrote.

And when Musk was asked if he could make the platform more fun, Musk responded with the emoji ‘100’.
