The new Podravka pasta factory, valued at 104 million kuna, will be built next to the existing Soup and Vegeta Factory and will be the first investment in the construction of new food production facilities for the company in 15 years, it was stated on Wednesday during the commencement of works.
The pasta factory will cover an area of 4,400 square meters, with a capacity of 10,000 tons per year.
– The new factory will also include space for future expansion of soup production, as the current utilization of the existing factory is nearly 100 percent, and we practically operate in three shifts throughout the year. The new factory will start operating in the summer of next year and will create jobs for 20 new workers – said Podravka’s production director Branimir Perković.
Podravka’s CEO Martina Dalić emphasized that the company will establish control over the production of its strategic raw materials after the new factory is built. Currently, it is produced to a lesser extent in Podravka’s Žito factory in Ljubljana, while the rest is sourced from the market.
– It has proven optimal for pasta to be produced here in Koprivnica, where soups are also produced. In general, Podravka’s goal is not to become a dominant player in the production of this raw material, but our aim is to maintain the market positions we currently have and to expand them to the extent possible, especially in the Croatian market – said Dalić.
She also reminded that Podravka has recently invested 30 million kuna in new machines and lines in the Cocktail Factory, while a line worth more than 40 million kuna has been installed in the Kalnik factory in Varaždin. Modernization of production will soon begin in the Danica Meat Industry.
